Frequently asked questions

What is IMD Giving Day for Scholarships?

IMD Giving Day for Scholarships is a time-limited, online fundraising event starting at 8am CEST on 29 May 2024 and ending at 8pm CEST 30 May 2024. This year Giving Day will focus on generating scholarship support. By making a donation and getting involved in Giving Day, you can help ensure that IMD continues to attract and retain the brightest students from all backgrounds, no matter what their financial situation might be. Play your part in building a better future through IMD Giving Day.

Why get involved?

For more than 75 years, IMD has been playing an important role in helping to solve some of the most pressing problems we face as a global society and, arguably, that role has never been more important than it is right now.

IMD is much more than a business school. Through the impact and influence of global alumni , it is also an instrument of positive global change.

By giving as part of the IMD Giving Day, the impact of your gift can be increased by unlocking larger match or challenge gifts donated by IMD matching funds or challenge gifts. There’s no better time to join us!

How do I get involved?

All you have to do is give via this page during the 36-hours of IMD Giving Day.

All gifts donated during this period will be counted in the totals. You can also help spread the word by signing up to become an Ambassador.

You can sign-up at any point before or during IMD Giving Day and share content to inspire others to get involved. Follow #IMDGivingDay on LinkedIn, XFacebook, or Instagram.

Why is my payment not going through?

Please check that you have included your postcode in both the address field and the card details field of the gift form. If there is still a problem, you may have to contact your card provider and inform them that the payment is valid. For any queries, please contact us at GivingDay@imd.org.

Where will the funds go?

Your gift will go to the IMD Scholarship Foundation. The IMD Scholarship Foundation exists to support exceptional individuals who wish to reach their leadership potential and contribute to society. It does so by providing scholarships to talented individuals so that financial barriers don't hold them back from pursuing a life-changing, educational journey at IMD. It is presided by MBA Dean, Professor Omar Toulan and is registered in Canton Vaud, Switzerland. As an institution that pursues public interest goals, it is tax-exempt. Donations may therefore be tax deductible depending on the amount and method of donation and your tax residency.

This year Giving Day will focus on generating scholarship support. By making a donation and getting involved in Giving Day you can help ensure that IMD continues to attract and retain the brightest students from all nationalities, cultures, and backgrounds, no matter what their financial situation might be.

All gifts raised will be used, in full, to fund scholarships in ways that support widening access to IMD programs, increasing diversity and inclusion and promoting academic excellence. Your support for scholarships is more important now than ever.

Can anyone participate in Giving Day?

Absolutely. Support from everyone in the IMD community and beyond makes a real difference.

Can I see my gift on this website?

Yes! If you’ve chosen not to make your gift anonymous, you can take a look at the donor wall to see your name.

Why is there a minimum donation amount this Giving Day?

As you know, there are transaction fees associated with processing online payments. By setting a minimum threshold, we can ensure that the cost of processing donations doesn't outweigh their impact. We understand that some donors may wish to give less and, of course, we would be delighted to accommodate a contribution that aligns with your preference. Please write to DonorSupport@imd.org so that we can arrange for this to happen.

Can I give in my local currency?

Yes! You can give in the currency of your choice and Stripe payment provider will automatically convert the amount into CHF.

I’m not big on social media, so how else can I share?

Sign up to become an ambassador and you can email your friends too. Or just email us at GivingDay@imd.org with a couple of quotes, an image or just your story of why you’re donating, and we will use it on the IMD social media channels during the 36-hours of the IMD Giving Day.

Is my payment secure?

Yes. All payments through the IMD Giving Day website will be securely processed by Stripe stripe.com/privacy.

Is there another way to give during IMD Giving Day, other than online?

Yes, you can contact us at GivingDay@imd.org. or call at +41 21 618 0466. We’ll be delighted to help you make your gift.

What is the Ambassador page for?

After using the quick one-step sign up, you’ll find easy-share images and content within this toolkit which are really simple to use!
